In February, AUTHORS is in search of 20 poets to present their work at Poetry NOW.

AUTHORS at Harbourfront Centre is inviting submissions for Poetry NOW: 3rd annual Battle of the Bards.

The 3rd annual Battle of the Bards is AUTHORS’ popular poetry competition to feature 20 of Canada’s upcoming and established poets.

Poetry NOW: 3rd annual Battle of the Bards

Wednesday, March 30, 7:30pm

Brigantine Room

York Quay Centre, 235 Queens Quay West, Toronto, ON

2011-03-30 19:30

2011-03-30 21:00

1 stage. 20 poets. 1 winner.

Here is AUTHORS’ brief description of this special poetry competition:

We’ll be featuring 20 readers in one event, instead of our usual three. And we won’t be making a judgment call about who gets an invite. If you fit the criteria and your name gets pulled out of the hat, you’re in!”

To be eligible for Poetry NOW:

“You must be published by a trade publisher in a collection that is all your own work (so anthologies, literary journals and magazines aren’t eligible, sorry). Your book must have been published within the last five years, and it must be currently in print.”

As a prize, one poet reader will win an automatic invitation to appear at the 32nd annual International Festival of Authors (October 19–29, 2011) AND an ad for their most recent book of poetry in NOW Magazine!

Presented in partnership with NOW Magazine.

If you’ve been published by a trade publisher in a collection that is all your own work in the last five years, and your book is currently in print, please click here to check out the complete details as well as their submission guidelines.

The closing date for submissions is Monday, February 28 at noon.
