Christmas flowers in bloom at Allan Gardens and Centennial Park
The annual Christmas Flower Show opens at the Allan Gardens Conservatory downtown this Sunday, December 5, with carollers, horse and carriage rides and activities for children from noon to 7 p.m. The conservatory is located at 19 Horticultural Ave., Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Admission is free with food bank donations (accepted at the door).
This year’s show will feature a polar-bear-shaped topiary and polar-bear-theme crafts, as well as a new flower variety called the polar bear poinsettia – referring to its white colour. The Allan Gardens Conservatory display will also showcase Christmas rose poinsettias and carousel poinsettias, as well as cyclamens, Jerusalem cherries and azaleas.
The Centennial Park Conservatory Christmas Flower Show will open on December 12 from noon to 7 p.m., with a family carol sing, Victorian carollers, refreshments and horse-and-buggy rides. The Centennial Park display will feature a spectacular fireplace topiary made up of hundreds of individual plants and will showcase many of the latest varieties of poinsettias.
The Christmas Flower Show will run until January 9 at both locations. More information is available at
