Health Hazard Alert: Updated List of Recalled Ground Beef Products of Establishments 761 & 530

This is an update to my previous blogs:

Concerning certain frozen beef products that were manufactured by New Food Classics (1122 International Blvd., Suite 601, Burlington, Ontario, Canada), and recalled due to E. coli bacteria in certain frozen beef products, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA’s) continued investigation produced the following results for the present time:

  • Table of recalled products and updated identification codes, which is the list of products provided in the  Health Hazard Alert issued on March 22, 2012  and now updated to include the following new info:
    • The final day of production has been updated to February 16, 2012.
    • The affected product, Ground Beef – Fresh, is sold in a 9.07 kg package, bearing the Establishment number (EST) 761, a product code of 55362 and a production date code format of 11 JL 01 up to including 12 FE16.
      • This fresh product was originally prepared for Five Guys Enterprises but was also sold frozen.
    • The second product was manufactured at Establishment 530, New Food Classics located in St.Catharines, Ontario using recalled product received from Establishment 761.
      • The affected product, Country Fried Style Breaded Beef Steak Chopped and Formed, is sold in a 3.90 kg package, bearing the Establishment number (EST) 530, a product code of 50988 and a production code format of 19-SEP-11 up to including 17-Feb-12.
    • These products have been distributed nationally through restaurant and institutional establishments.
    • This recall is part of an ongoing food safety investigation.
      • The CFIA is working with the responsible company and distributors to identify all affected products and verify all information regarding the products listed in the table.
      • As information becomes available, it will be updated in the table on the CFIA website to help consumers identify all affected products.

OTTAWA, March 24, 2012 – As a result of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) continued investigation, the list of products provided in the Health Hazard Alert issued on March 22, 2012 has been updated and the final day of production has been updated to February 16, 2012.

The affected product, Ground Beef – Fresh, is sold in a 9.07 kg package, bearing the Establishment number (EST) 761, a product code of 55362 and a production date code format of 11 JL 01 up to including 12 FE 16. This fresh product was originally prepared for Five Guys Enterprises but was also sold frozen.

OTTAWA, le 24 mars 2012 – Dans le cadre de l’enquête menée par l’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments (ACIA), on a mis à jour la liste des produits visés énumérés dans la mise en garde du 22 mars 2012 et on a modifié la dernière date de production au 16 février 2012.

Le produit visé, « Boeuf Haché – Frais », se vend en emballages de 9,07 kg portant le numéro d’établissement (EST) 761, le code de produit 55362 et un code de date de production entre 11 JL 01 et 12 FE 16 inclusivement. Ce produit frais a été préparé à l’origine pour Five Guys Enterprises mais a aussi été vendu congelé.

Le deuxième produit a été fabriqué dans l’établissement 530 de New Food Classics, situé à St. Catharines (Ontario), en utilisant le produit touché de l’établissement 761.

Le produit visé, « Bifteck genre campagne frit pané haché et formé », se vend en emballages de 3,90 kg portant le numéro d’établissement (EST) 530, le code de produit 50988 et un code de date de production entre 19-SEP-11 et 17-Feb-12 inclusivement.

Ces produits ont été distribués à l’échelle nationale à des restaurants et à des établissements institutionnels.

Le présent rappel fait partie d’une enquête en cours sur la salubrité des aliments. L’ACIA collabore avec l’entreprise responsable et les distributeurs afin de recenser tous les produits touchés et de vérifier tous les renseignements concernant les produits énumérés dans le tableau. Ces renseignements seront ajoutés au tableau dans le site Web de l’ACIA à mesure qu’ils seront disponibles pour aider les consommateurs à identifier tous les produits touchés.
