Ontario Provincial Police Enforces ‘Move Over’ Law July 30 – August 1

Have you heard of the ‘move over’ law ?

The ‘move over’ law requires drivers to:

  • slow down and proceed with caution when passing an emergency vehicle (police, fire or ambulance) parked on the side of the highway with its lights activated
  • move over a lane, if the highway has more than one lane
  • pay a fine for breaking the “move over” law, which ranges from $400 to $2,000
