City of Toronto Launches Let’s Talk Child Care Campaign

Hester How Daycare Centre, 100 Queen St. W., Toronto City Hall, Main Floor

  • Councillor Anthony Perruzza, Chair of the Community Development and Recreation Committee (Ward 8 York West), and Councillor Janet Davis (Ward 31 Beaches-East York) will join City of Toronto staff to kick off the Let’s Talk Child Care campaign to promote the upcoming Parent Summit.
    • The event will include the unveiling of four new transit shelter ads that will appear across the city this month.
  • The purpose of the following Parent Summit meetings is to hear directly from parents their priorities, issues and challenges in accessing child care and other services for children and families.
    • Findings will inform the City’s Child Care Service Plan and the new funding model for child care that is currently under development.
    • Thursday, November 21st, 2013: North and South Summits
      6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
      North Summit Location: North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge Street
      South Summit Location: Central YMCA, 20 Grosvenor St.
    • Saturday, November 23rd, 2013: East and West Summits
      9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Summer camps throughout the Province of Ontario are invited to join the City of Toronto in setting a new (unofficial) world record for the most athletes competing in a multi-sport games event:

“World Record Camp Games”

Wednesday, July 25

Opening ceremony 10:30 a.m., followed by the lighting of the World Record Camp Games’ torch, and sports competitions

After the Toronto Marathon, another great opportunity for people in all age categories to exercise together is the Toronto Challenge on June 12, 2011.

The features of the Toronto Challenge include:

  • A 5km run,
  • 5km walk and
  • 1km walk on a scenic course though the Entertainment District.
  • Prizes for participants in all age categories.
  • All-electric Nissan LEAF as the pace car for this year’s Toronto Challenge.
