You’re Invited: Five Meetings on Toronto’s Urban Forest Infestation by Emerald Ash Borer September 14 – 22

LEAF informs all Canadians in Toronto about the significant crisis of our urban forest caused by the emerald ash borer (EAB) in the following letter:

09/13/2011

Dear Torontonians,

“By now you’ve heard the news – it is estimated that the City of Toronto will lose nearly all of its 860,000 ash trees to emerald ash borer (EAB) by 2017. This significant loss to our urban forest will represent 8.4% of the canopy cover and will truly be felt by all. In York Region, it is anticipated that most of the estimated 2,800,000 mature ash trees growing in the area (700,000 of which are found in the urban forest, and 2,100,000 in rural woodlands) will become infested and die within the next ten to fifteen years.
