You’re Invited: Toronto’s Eglinton Connects Project Public Workshops May 27 & 28 and June 4, 2013

This video presents “Metrolinx awards $320-million light rail transit tunnel contract for Toronto Eglinton Crosstown”:

  • Ontario government agency Metrolinx announced its board of directors approved a $320-million construction contract for a tunnel on a light rail transit project in Toronto

Metrolinx is investing approximately $6 billion in the design and construction of the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) line which will:

  • be completed by 2020
  • run between Weston Road in the west, and Kennedy subway station in the east as shown in this Eglinton Crosstown LRT map:

The Eglinton Connects Study is:

  • complementary to Metrolinx’s work
  • about evaluating options to take advantage of new transit infrastructure along Eglinton, which is being designed to accommodate a growing Toronto
  • needed to make decisions about how to grow with transit:
    • This includes thinking about where people will live and work, and what kind and size of buildings will be along Eglinton in the future

      • Help choose among options to shape the future of your community

      • Here’s an example of a mid-rise option that will be presented for one of the Focus Areas:

  • Writer in Residence Alissa York’s Journey Prize-winning story, “The Back of the Bear’s Mouth,” began as a response to an Australian Aboriginal creation myth, and ended up as a contemporary love story set in the Yukon
  • Join York as she goes “behind the scenes” of her own short fiction for a glimpse into the complex process of bringing an imagined world and its inhabitants to life
