2010, Finland, 81 minutes. In Finnish with English subtitles

NFB (National Film Board of Canada) Mediatheque invites you to “hang out with the guys in their sacred sanctuary – not the bar, but the sauna. This intimate documentary simply lets Finnish men do the talking while relaxing in the warm glow of steaming stoves, opening up about the important things in life, and cleansing themselves physically, mentally and spiritually.  Along the way, the film also highlights some unusually creative sauna construction solutions.”

Steam of Life
was recently chosen as Finland’s entry for the 2011 Foreign Language Oscar and made its Canadian premiere at the 2010 Hot Docs Toronto International Documentary Film Festival.

Nordic Nights is presented in partnership with the Consulate of Finland.
