In this video, Music Director, Peter Oundjian introduces the Toronto Symphony Orchestra‘s (TSO’s) 90th season.From a two-week residency with Lang Lang performing all of the Beethoven piano concerti, to an all-star Canadian cast performing Mahler’s Symphony of a Thousand and the world première of a children’s work based on Roch Carrier’s The Hockey Sweater, the 90th season exemplifies the TSO tradition of bringing the best orchestral music to the city of Toronto, as shown here:

‘A World of Music’ celebrates Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s 90th season

The City of Toronto Archives will open a new exhibition tomorrow showcasing some of the extensive archival material donated by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO). “A World of Music: Celebrating 90 Seasons with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra” highlights a rich collection of photographs, documents and audio recordings.

Speakers will include Councillor Gary Crawford (Ward 36 Scarborough Southwest), who will represent Mayor Rob Ford at the event, and Toronto Symphony Orchestra Music Director Peter Oundjian.

“A World of Music” showcases the illustrious history of one of Canada’s major cultural institutions, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, from its debut concert in 1923 at Massey Hall to the present under Music Director Peter Oundjian.
