There are some enjoyable summer festivals and events in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

“Tuesday Night Live!” performances from 7 to 8 p.m. are:

  • July 2 – Megacity Big Band: an 18-piece jazz orchestra performing big band music of the ’30s and ’40s, as well as modern works in swing style.
  • July 9 – The Octokats: new summer jazz band.
  • July 16 – Russian Folk Theatre: colourful costumes, Russian folk music and dance.
  • July 23 – North York Concert Band: music from pop to light classics, featuring Canadian composers.
  • July 30  – Danny’s 11: a nine-piece jazz/swing band with two vocalists.
  • August 6 – Cadeo: Spanish guitar and Latin music.
  • August 13 – Casablanca Orchestra: Broadway show tunes and great hits from the ’30s to the ’90s.
  • August 20 – Shul of Rock: dynamic rock and roll Jewish music.
  • August 27 – Danny’s 7: seven-piece jazz/swing band with singers.

Family Fun Summer Festival is on every second Thursday evening, as part of the Family Fun Theatre series, for  parents and children to join FREE, family-friendly activities from 5:30 to 7 p.m. or watch stage performances run from 7 to 8 p.m. as follows:

  • July 11 – Chris McKhool Kids Show: Juno-nominee and Canada’s greatest eco-Troubadour and children’s musical star.
  • July 25 – Dufflebag Theatre: Beauty and the Beast.
  • August 15 – Movie under the Stars: family activities at 8 p.m.; outdoor movie screening at 9 p.m.
  • August 29 – Rhythm Unurisho Drummers and Dancers: Lively evening of African Drummers.
  • In the event of rain, activities and performances will take place in the Earl Bales Community Centre within the park.

  • On 6 July, the event is presenting its third annual South Asia’s Got Talent show for Toronto based youth.

  • Brace yourselves for the third annual Soundclash Music Awards coming to Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre July 12, 13 and 14.
  • The 2013 SoundClash Festival is a live (local) music competition/festival  hosted annually by Harbourfront Centre to give independent artists’ within the GTA a chance to showcase their unique music to over 45,000 thousand people who stop by over the three-day festival.
    • Applicants began applying on April 1 of this year in hopes of competing for the top spot.

    • Over 200 applications were received and six lucky finalists were chosen to perform.

  • Each screening will take place on a large cinema screen erected in the garden.
  • Guests are invited to bring friends, family, blankets, and a picnic and are encouraged to dress in their finest operatic picnic attire for an evening that promises to be full of culture and entertainment.
  • Gates will open at 7:00 p.m. with the films beginning at sunset (around 9:00 pm.).
  • In case of rain or strong winds the screening will be postponed to Sunday.
