The details regarding the recall of the affected Boskovich brand fresh Parsley are as follows:
- The affected product was:
- sold only on March 19, 2012
- from one store, Canada Safeway, 124 Primrose Dr., Lawson Heights Mall, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- sold in bunches enclosed with a band indicating the Boskovich brand and Product of USA
- There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
- Food contaminated with Cryptosporidium hominis may not look or smell spoiled.
- Consumption of food contaminated with these protozoans may cause cryptosporidiosis, a foodborne illness.
- Cryptosporidiosis can cause gastroenteritis, watery diarrhea with cramping, abdominal pains and malaise.
- Symptoms are self limiting in healthy individuals but immunocompromised may experienced prolonged symptoms with increasing severity.

Présence possible de Cryptosporidium dans du PERSIL FRAIS de marque BOSKOVICH
OTTAWA, le 4 avril 2012 – L’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments (ACIA) avise la population de ne pas consommer de persil frais de marque Boskovich décrit ci dessous. Le produit touché pourrait être contaminé par Cryptosporidium.
Le produit visé n’a été vendu que le 19 mars 2012 dans un seul magasin, soit le Canada Safeway situé dans le Lawson Heights Mall, au 124, Primrose Dr., à Saskatoon (Saskatchewan). Le produit a été vendu en bottes liées par une bande portant le nom de la marque Boskovich et l’allégation « Product of USA » (« Produit des États Unis »).
Aucun cas de maladie associé à la consommation de ces produits n’a été signalé.
Les aliments contaminés par Cryptosporidium hominis ne présentent pas nécessairement d’altération visible ni d’odeur suspecte. La consommation d’aliments contaminés par ces protozoaires peut causer la cryptosporidiose, une maladie d’origine alimentaire. La cryptosporidiose peut causer la gastro entérite, une diarrhée liquide accompagnée de crampes, des douleurs abdominales et des malaises. Chez les personnes en santé, les symptômes sont résolutifs, mais ceux ci peuvent persister durant de longues périodes et croître en intensité chez les personnes immunodéprimées.
