This is an update to my previous blogs:
There were very sad and grievous outcomes for the people of Elliot Lake due to the Algo Centre Mall collapse:
- victims of the Algo Centre Mall collapse
- loss of jobs
- disruption of services resulting from the loss of a major community hub
- a number of services provided by all three levels of government have been affected
In response to the latter outcome, Ontario is working with its federal and municipal partners to ensure residents of Elliot Lake and the surrounding area can still access the services that are important to them as follows:
- Service Canada has moved its operations temporarily to the Ontario Employment Centre at 50 Hillside Drive North. Elliot Lake, Ontario
- The office can be reached at 1-800-622-6232
- The Algoma Public Health office will relocate to Elliot Lake Secondary School at 303 Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake, Ontario, beginning Tuesday, July 3, 2012
- Evening sexual health services and immunization clinics will be held at the Elliot Lake Family Health Team at 31 Nova Scotia Walk
- The office can be reached at 705-848-2314
- The Algoma District Services Administration Board (ADSAB)
- ADSAB is also temporarily relocating to Elliot Lake Secondary School at 303 Mississauga Avenue on June 29, 2012, to provide:
- Ontario Works
- Children’s Services
- Housing Services
- There will be no disruption in the issuance of Ontario Works Benefits
- There is a “drop box” located in the Service Ontario building located at 50 Hillside Drive N. that can be accessed to bring documents related to any of the programs
- Any regular mail sent to them will be picked up at the local post office
- Further updates will be available at www.adsab.on.ca and will be communicated in the local media
