The Italian Cultural Institute, under the auspices of the Consul General of Italy, is proud to present a retrospective exhibition of Gabriella Giandelli:

  • The exhibition runs through Friday, September 14, 2012
  • Gallery hours: Mon – Fri: 2:30pm – 4:30pm

On exhibit, over 80 original drawings of one the most prolific Italian illustrator and graphic novelist, including the celebrated series Interiorae.

The artist will be in attendance.

Toronto Comic Arts Festival is a week long celebration of comics and graphic novels and their creators, which culminates in a two-day exhibition and vendor fair featuring hundreds of comics creators from around the world.

Topatoco: Welcome to TCAF Party!

  • Publishing some of the very best books and merchandise from your favourite web comics, Topatoco returns to TCAF once more–and they’re throwing a party!
    • “Join a whole slew of awesome Topatoco cartoonists at the first-ever Topatoco Welcome to TCAF party!
    • This party runs opposite the TCAF kick-off event featuring Jeff Smith, Gabriel Ba, and Fabio Moon at Toronto Reference Library (but we’re okay with that!).
    • At 10pm this party will morph into the TCAF Kick-off event After Party! It’s gonna be a fun evening at The Pilot!”

  • These programs will accommodate about 40 kids, and are great for kids up to age 14 who are curious about their favourite books, or interested in creating comics themselves!

    • The Kids Comics Lounge, for your comics reading pleasure,
    • and TCAF Kids Presents The Art Garage,with
      • two-days worth of crafting fun for kids!
      • “four interactive activity stations to get your creative comics juices flowing!”

      • capacity for all events is approximately 200 people

“Gabriella Giandelli and music composer Marco Cappelli will engage in a conversation on their artist careers and the influence that music has on comics.

The conversation will be enriched by musical excerpts thanks to Marco Cappelli’s guitar.

Marco Cappelli has directed the animation film In The Shadow of No Towers (USA – 2011 -53min.) as well as arranged its music.

The film is based on the graphic novel written by Pulizer prize winning
cartoonist Art Spiegelman about his experience of the 9/11 attacks on New York’s World Trade Centre.”

Narrated by John Turturro, In the Shadow of No Towers will be screened at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival on Sunday, May 6 at 1pm at Innis College (Please click here for more details).
